Fabulous

Review by Echa (27-Dec-2016)

The accommodation was fantastic, the room size was amazing and everything we needed was available. The many times we chatted to staff we were greeted with friendliness and their customer service is well above the industry standard. I would definitely recommend staying at this resort if you are in the hunter valley.

“Excellent estate”

Review by Maxim_Lee (01-Mar-2016)

Though remote, this farmstay is self sufficient. We had all the tools available for an outdoor BBQ (in cold winter night). Staffs on site were friendly in advising us on the local highlights and amenities available. Our 18month daughter had so much fun with the cute Alpacas so much that she almost refuse to leave them for the evening. Food pallets are left by the gates to guest for feeding these cute animals. Free range eggs were available for collection from the hen shed the next morning and we made some delicious breakfast. Lovey place where we would definitely visit again. And next time, we will be staying longer to explore the region and to enjoy the countryside life

“Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! AMAZING value in the Hunter!”

Review by l_ma8456 (25-Feb-2016)

Very clean and comfortable, our self catering cottage had everything we needed for a lovely stay. A pleasant surprise for me was they provided us with all the little extras (like tea towels, shampoo and Sheridan bath towels) that we normally would have to bring ourselves when renting out a place. The knives were also sharp which is rare to see in self catering places. It seemed to be very child friendly and besides the alpacas, they also had chickens and ducks on the property.

It was a short drive to the Polkolbin wineries and we had all the Broke wineries at our doorstep. My partner and I left feeling wonderfully relaxed and at such a good price, we would definitely recommend this place to others!

Absolutely lovely for a relaxing country resort getaway

Review by kat255060 (13-Feb-2016)

Our group of two brave parents and six teenage children enjoyed a fabulous autumnal weekend getaway. The 3 bedroom waterview cottage was perfect for our needs and extremely comfortable in every respect. Each bedroom had an ensuite bathroom, which is rare to find when travelling in a larger party. The decor was fresh and modern and the the cleanliness impeccable. I notice attention to detail and in my books the hosts had clearly thought of every possible convenience to include in the cottage. The property had it all : country views, waterviews (over the dam), animals, a tennis court and in ground pool with cabana, hot spa and BBQ facilities. Keep in mind the property is not exactly in the heart of the wineries precint but this can easily be accessed by a pleasant country drive. We were very happy with our stay and would gladly recommend this property to prospective visitors.

Best place to Stay

Review by Trudi_Jane (03-Jan-2016)

We stayed here for a weekend. In a stockyard suite for couples. The room was clean and very well equipped. It had everything we could want. On arrival we were made very welcome and once settled in a cheese platter and bottle of wine was delivered to our suite. Would definitely recommend this place and can't wait for my next visit. I would recommend to take some basics with you as the general store is very limited. The bed was king size and very comfortable.

Great place for families and couples!

Review by Nyomie L (25-Oct-2013)

We stayed for 2 nights in a sandstone cottage and loved our stay! The cottage had a queen bed and 4 bunks in a separate room. We were a couple but there is plenty of room for a family. There is a small kitchen and a verandah with the most amazing views of the mountains and alpaca farm with a BBQ. The bed had alpaca pillows and duvet and they were amazing!! We had the best nights sleep. There is a pool, spa, tennis courts and a small playground. You can collect fresh eggs from the chickens on the farm which was great. Overall we loved our stay and will return!!

Wonderful mid-week escape

Review by Kylie W (25-Oct-2013)

We had a wonderful get-away from the kids and stayed in a Stockyard Suite. It was lovely to feel like grown-ups again! The place really does cater for all, couples, families and groups. Our suite was beautiful, modern, clean and finished so well, we were very comfortable. The alpacas are gorgeous and the owner was so friendly and informative. The owners obviously take a lot of pride in the place and it shows. We spent most of our time touring the wineries. It is a bit of a drive to Pokolbin and the road in and out was shocking but they were resurfacing it while we were there so it should be great when finished. I highly recommend it and would be happy to go back.

Nice Hunter Retreat

Review by Anthony D (25-Oct-2013)

This is a nice play to stay for a family (like us) or a couple. It's on the quieter side of the Hunter wine country, very peaceful. The property was very well maintained and our cottage was spacious, comfortable, well appointed, clean, and just generally very nice. The Alpacas are great for children, and there are also a playground, pool, spa, and a hen house where you can pick up fresh eggs in the morning. I'd recommend this as a great place to stay.

Fantastic Accommodation, perfect setting

Review by Warkem (08-May-2013)

We stayed here for a wedding just down the road at the Margan vineyard and it was perfect. We were in one of the Stockyard suites up the back of the property and it exceeded our expectations. The suite had everything required for a weekend away and the bed was huge and comfortable.

The only negative was that the TV does not pick up ABC or Channel 9 to check the scores in the league (even tried tuning the digital receiver manually a couple of times but no dice) however this thoroughly pleased my wife and no there is no need to watch TV in the beautiful hunter anyhow.

We are a young couple who would stay again and definitely recommend to anyone!

Review by Crease86 (08-May-2013)

My boyfriend took me here for the Easter weekend, it was a surprise so I didn't know where in the Hunter we were staying. When he said Broke, I was a little concerned because we'd only ever stayed in Pokolbin and I thought Broke would be too far from everything. But my concerns soon faded when we arrived. I was extremely excited when we arrived at an Alpaca farm and he told me we could feed them, and that there was also a tennis court and a pool & spa! Our cottage was right in front of the tennis courts and it was huge for two people, with a back verandah and a small one at the front. It had air con, and really everything you need for a long weekend such as a kitchen, tv and BBQ. It would've been good to have a couple of DVDs in the room or a packet of cards for convenience because we didn't think to bring any.

The pool and spa are in a nice outdoor area with a playground and outdoor tables, undercover area too. The spa temperature was a little broken because it wouldn't heat up when we turned the temp up, but it was still warm. The street it is on is close to wineries and restaurants and staying in Broke was a lovely change to the busyness/commercialness of Pokolbin. One day we did a tour of the Broke wineries by driving around ourselves, and another day we drove to Pokolbin and hired bikes. We had a beautiful dinner at Nightingale winery, and a delicious breakfast at Margans, which are both a two minute drive down the road.

It was hard to leave the resort without stealing an Alpaca because they are just adorable!! The resort would suit anyone, I would love to stay again with my family one day. So a big tick of approval to both Starline and Broke!!

Alpac-a bag to go to Starline again

Review by MelissaAnnJordan (23-Jan-2013)

I wish with all my heart that we stayed more than one night. It was a lovely place! We arrived quite late in the evening, but it was no problem for the crew at Starline. They were available. As we drove to our cabin, we passed tons of bunnies. When we reached our cabin, we saw a sweet, cozy and peaceful cabin surrounded by loads of lavender. It was beautiful. In the morning, we were given some food to feed the alpacas and we were on our way although I could have stayed all day. Down the street, you will find nice local wineries. While we were there we spotted numerous kangaroos and even a wombat. Great place. I highly recommend it!

Can't wait to go back!

Review by Sweatyorama (01-Jan-2013)

We booked in here for a week late August, my wife & I staying in a family cottage. The cottage itself was wonderful - it had pretty much everything we needed, very comfortable bed, well appointed kitchen, comfortable lounge and a large verandah - perfect for relaxing evenings with a bottle of local wine watching the Alpacas, bunnies and bird life, and listening to the frogs! It being off-peak we virtually had the resort to ourselves making it incredibly peaceful, so for these city folk the quiet, clean air and clear skies (the stars, my god the stars!) were perfect for relaxing and recharging. There are plenty of vineyards in the area if that's your thing and Singleton, Pokolbin, Wollombi, Cessnock etc are all within comfortable (and picturesque) driving distance. Otherwise just relax, explore the farm, make friends with the Alpacas, wander into Broke.... We loved it so much we booked another stay as we checked out!

Wish we could stayed longer

Review by Tim Donovan (05-Dec-2012)

Stayed for 3 nights. Lovely locations, hosts were very friendly and accommodation was excellent. Beautiful cabins with everything you need. Lovely coming out onto the veranda and having alpacas right there at your door step. Handy to the winerys. Wish we could stayed longer...we will be back.
